Kinja'd!!!

I’m curious oppo, how often/frequent do you mow your lawn? I’m thinking maybe once every two weeks for my yard(s), just curious what others do.

When it looks like it needs it. This year it has been when it has been dry enough.

It varies based on the weather. Middle of the summer, when things are really growing it’s every week. Early srping and late fall, it’s once every 2.

Front yard is every week or two depending on the growth rate (Spring: weekly; Summer/Fall: biweekly). Backyard is when I start tripping on stuff I can't see through the grass canopy.

Usually once a week, but this summer has been so hot around here that I’ve been able to skip weeks.

Most types of turf should not have more than 1/3 taken off at a time. So anywhere from every 3 days to every 10

Once a week.

I may skip a week in the middle of summer if it’s just not growing, but it usually is, since I water a lot.

Whenever I have time, usually every three weeks when it’s getting tall enough to bale. I’d like to cut it more often, but (in the spring especially), the days where it didn’t rain were weekends, and I go out of town on weekends. I also live on a hill, so once the sun starts going down, the grass gets too slippery and the tires spin and slide too much for my liking.

Depends on the amount of rain. Typically every week during spring/early summer. And fall. Every two weeks during late summer. Except when it rains. Which is almost every week. From late November to early February is the only time we don’t have to mow.

Things tend to grow well in Louisiana.

all depends on how fast it grows, Sometimes once a week, then once every two weeks then I start passing the snowblower or my plow. Then that all depends. sometimes 2 times a day, sometimes once a day, and sometimes about 4 times per week. Fucken snow we are getting closer to that season.....

Kinja'd!!!

At least once a week if not twice. Never taking more than 1/3 off the top, and always alternating patterns each time I mow to prevent ruts and keep the grass growing healthily. When the need arises I water. I prefer using the walk behind when I can, but the backyard needs the riding mower because it’s otherwise too large. I’m particular about my care for the lawn!

My wife likes to take photos and tell people how crazy I am. I edge regularly and have been known to take a pair of scissors out to trim the grass against the driveway’s edge if need be.

Every 4 to 5 days in the spring and early summer when the grass is growing quickly. This time of year though I do it about every 7-10 days. It has been hot and dry so the lawn isn’t growing much.

When the yard annoys me enough, or I fear it will start clogging my $99 Walmart mower, so usually about a week & a half for the main yard & strips next to the sidewalk, and every 3rd one of those times for the side yard that is heavily shaded and grows much slower.

Since becoming a home owner I’ve found myself caring about stuff I never thought I’d give a shit about, the lawn however is not one of them. “Not horrible looking & low maintenance” is about all I’ve managed to make myself care about when it comes to the yard.

Kinja'd!!!1

It really depends on the rain we get. If we get a usual amount of rain, I have to do it once a week. This summer has been pretty dry so I’ve gotten usually a couple of weeks before it needs done again. Right now my “grass” is pretty much brown and dead. It was all weeds anyway. And as such, I don’t have to mow it. Yet the neighbor on either side of me who have sprinklers have to mow at least once a week. There's some advantages to cranking down the deck height to the lowest setting and killing it. I don't have to mow. lol

That’s how I do it. My yard has a lot of contours and trees and things. Following the contours on every pass and not straightening out the path keeps it from looking like a grid when I’m done.

Kinja'd!!! TheRealBicycleBuck > zeontestpilot

Mornings are bad in the South. Too much dew on the grass. Dewey grass is sticky grass. Sticky grass sticks to mower. Grass stuck to mower leads to lots of stopping to remove large clumps of grass. Lots of stopping makes the mower impatient which causes finger loss when hand gets too close to spinning blade since the mower doesn’t want to injure back by constantly pull-starting the mower.
